ISI
ISI
The Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure is a non-profit organization dedicated to education and research (501(c)(3)) and is headquartered in Washington, DC. It was established in 2010 by the American Public Works Association (APWA), the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC).
Responding to the need for a comprehensive sustainability framework and a suitable rating system for civil infrastructure development, ISI partnered with the former Zofnass Program for Sustainable Infrastructure at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design to develop Envision®.
OUR MISSION
- To help communities worldwide build sustainable, resilient, and equitable civil infrastructure
- To train and qualify Envision sustainability professionals and verify projects through Envision
- To protect the environment, improve people’s health and well-being, and strengthen economic prosperity
OUR VISION
ISI envisions a world in which every civil infrastructure project can be sustainable, resilient, and equitable, and works to provide people and projects with the tools, resources, and strategies needed to succeed.
For the ISI community, better infrastructure means a better world: in partnership with ENV SP professionals and member organizations, we contribute to thriving communities while protecting and regenerating the natural environment.
