The Quality Council of India (QCI) was established by a decision of the Council of Ministers in 1997 as an autonomous body jointly by the Government of India and the Indian industry, represented by three major industry associations: the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), with the aim of setting up and managing a national accreditation structure and promoting quality through the National Quality Campaign. QCI is registered as a non-profit organization.
The mission of QCI is to lead a national quality movement in India by engaging all stakeholders and emphasizing compliance with quality standards in all spheres of activity, with the goal of promoting and protecting the interests of the nation and its citizens. To achieve the objective of improving the qualitative competitiveness of Indian products and services, QCI provides strategic direction to the quality movement in the country, ensuring international recognition of India’s conformity assessment systems.
QCI operates through several Boards and Divisions, including NABCB, NABL, NABET, NBQP, NABH, PADD and PPID.
